9-11 (11-26-2008)

As was the title of a movie recently...

I want to believe.

I want to believe that our government wouldn't kill thousands of it's own citizens.

I want to believe that our government wouldn't allow others to kill thousands of it's own citizens.

I want to believe that our government has it's citizen's best interests in mind.

It's been 7 years plus and I just don't believe it. Why I'm bringing this up now? I have no idea. It's a thorn in my side that I can't reach and can't get used to.

I'll be honest: I have no idea if World Trade Center 1, 2 and 7 were intentionally demolished with thermite. I have no idea if the seismic record of that morning shows anything usual. I have no idea why flight 93 crashed. But if someone could answer 3 questions, I would believe that our government had nothing to do with 9-11. All I know is that 4 planes crashed, 3 buildings fell, and 3000 people died. Other than that, I have no faith in the story the government has told us about that day.

1. Where the hell was our Air Force that morning?!?

This is the most troubling question to me. It takes 6-10 minutes for a jet fighter to be fueled, armed, and air born in an emergency situation.

WTC 1 was hit around 8:45 am. Hey, it could have been pilot error. It could have been a lot of things. So I can understand why you would not go to high alert at this point. No biggie.

WTC 2 gets hit around 9:00 am. Ok, this is no drill. This isn't a coincidence. This isn't a bunch of moron pilots. This is an attack. We are under attack and our own civilian planes are being used against us.

The Pentagon gets hit at about 9:35 am.

Flight 93 crashes in Shanksville, PA around 10:05 am.

So...an hour after WTC 2 is hit, we still don't have a single bird in the air to Protect Our Nation's Capital?!? I'm sorry, I can't buy this. F-15s and F-16's have top speeds over 1500 mph. That is Fifteen-Hundred-Miles-Per-Hour. That means, in an hour, they can fly from NY to Kansas. Washington DC is only 300 miles from NYC. A jet could make that trip in 12 minutes.

Thus, even if you initially send jets to protect NYC, they can turn around and still have plenty of time to get back to Washington DC.

So yeah, in over an hour, no jets in the air. No jets to protect our nation's capital. No jets from a military that we spend half a trillion dollars on each year.

Yeah...if you say so.

And the answer of "for those of you who think that our military always has planes in the air and is always on 24 hour alert, well you are just wrong" (as was the answer given during a History Channel program in dealing with this specific issue) just lacks an incredible amount of credence. If that is the case, then where is the half of a trillion dollars that encompasses our military budget each year going?? And if that is the case, then are our miliary fighter planes just for show???

2. Why didn't Bin Laden hit higher-reward targets?!?

Lets think like a terrorist for a moment, if you will.

You have one chance at this.

ONE CHANCE.

You need to not only make a point. But you need to do the most damage possible. Cause the most destruction. Spread the most fear. Because there is no way in hell you will ever have this sort of opportunity again. And after this the US is gonna be gunning for you hard and heavy! it's not like you can attack and the US is simply going to pull a France and give up!

So you choose to hit both Twin Towers and the Pentagon and one other target that flight 93 was heading towards (which is still not known for sure).

Um...um...

Yes, the Twin Towers are an American landmark.

Yes, the Pentagon houses our nation's military minds.

But when you have one...just one chance to pull this off, high profile targets have to give way to high reward ones.

High profile is the Sears Tower. The Twin Towers. The White House. The St. Louis Arch. Things that are widely known, beloved by the American populace, and would severly hurt the American psyche if they were destroyed. But to destroy these things does no real good if you are looking to spread fear and start a war with a country.

High reward is Hoover Dam. A nuclear power plant (like the one at Indian Point...which the terrorists flew over on their way to NYC). Nellis AFB. A missle silo in Kansas.

If you hit Hoover Dam, you cut off the facility that provides drinking water and electricity to most of the lower southwest of the country. Not to mention the damage and death the on-rush of water would cause down river.

If you hit a nuclear power plant or missle silo properly, you could cause it to melt down...possibly killing hundreds of thousands, while sickening possibly millions with radiation poisoning. You wouldn't be taking out beloved landmarks. But you would spread a hell of a lot of fear and do a shit load of damage and kill a crazy amount of people.

Plus, if you are going to hit anything in Washington DC, it would have to be 1, the White House, 2 The Capital Building, 3 The Pentagon. Let me say this again: you have one chance at this. You don't fuck around with medium reward targets. I just don't get it.

I mean, come on, if you are Bin Laden planning these attacks in your cave, you have years to plan these attacks, and that is the best you can come up with?!? Yeah...if you say so.

3. Why hit the WTC towers to do the most damage possible and then hit the Pentagon to do the least damage possible?!?

This is almost as if Bin Laden decided on a Tale of Two Attacks. One would be to do as much damage as is possible to high profile civilian targets. One would be to do as little damage as is possible to a medium reward military target.

Indeed, the Pentagon houses the nation's military leaders. But it is in no means key to our military strength. I mean, you can fight a war out of a bunker. Just as the Viet Cong about that. Plus even if the Pentagon is disabled, there are still military bunkers beneath the White House that can be used. Oh, and by the way, there's this little place in Colorado that houses Norad, which can be utilized for military purposes as well. So what good will crashing a plane into the Pentagon do?? From a strategic point of view, the rewards are mediocre at best.

Plus the plane hit the Pentagon in a recently renovated portion. And because of the renovations, that section was mostly empty at the time it was hit. Now, once again, you are Bin Laden planning your attack in your cave for years. You decide to hit the Pentagon. And yet you don't know which side to hit it from to do the most damage possible and kill the most military leaders possible? Yeah, if you say so.

Now you get to the Twin Towers.

Just before they are hit, the terrorist pilots on both flights tilted the aircraft at an angle in order to take out as many floors as possible (aka, do as much damage possible). Both planes hit low enough so that there would be enough "mass" above to fall and tear apart the buildings on the way down after the ensuing jet-fuel fires weakened the super structure enough.

So now you are telling me that Bin Laden was smart enough to know how to do as much damage as is possible to the WTC, but not smart enough to know how to hit the Pentagon to do as much damage as is possible there??

As I said, this is a Tale of Two Attacks. It makes no sense. You attack 2 high profile targets...and 1 medium reward target. If you are going for high profile targets, wouldn't you hit The White House? The Capital Building? The Lincoln Memorial? And if you were going for high reward targets, instead of hitting the WTC, you'd hit a nuclear power plant or a dam or a military base, or a silo, or the like. I mean, come on Bin Laden, make up your mind! Do you want to hit high profile targets or high reward ones? And if you want to hit high reward ones, then why didn't you hit high reward ones??

One last point: why only hit East Coast cities? Why only hijack 4 planes?? Think of the chaos that would have ensued if planes all over the nation would have been hijacked roughly simultaneously! Especially with the incredible delay there was in getting fighter jets in the air. My God! It would have been a terrorist's wet dream!

With 10 planes you could have hit: WTC 1, WTC 2, The White House, The Capital Building, Hoover Dam, Glen Canyon dam (it holds back Lake Powell), The Golden Gate Bridge, the Indian Point Nuclear powerplant (or some other nuclear power plant), and hey, why not crash 2 planes into the Pentagon as a grand finale! That would be a great mix of high profile targets and high reward targets. And given the fact that Bin Laden spent years, supposedly, on planning the attacks, it is simply confounding that he didn't orchestrate something like this.

...

Anyway, the 3,000 who died during these attacks deserve better than the crappy explanations given. It is a fucking shame and this is an event that I wish to high holy Heaven had never happened. But it did. And we need to know why and how it happened. And until those 3 questions are answered in a sufficient manner, I just can't believe the "official story".

I want to believe.

My God I want to believe...
