Who do you treat better, your neighbor's kid or your own?
Who do you treat better, your co-worker or your spouse?
I hope you see the point I'm trying to make here.
If we aren't going to stand up and help our own in this country, then I'm sorry sports fans, but we shouldn't be helping anyone!
We are so generous and caring when it comes to other countries. Whether it was the '95 Kyoto quake, the '04 tsunami, or now the '09 Haiti hurricane.
And yet, god damn New Orleans 4 years later is still only partially rebuilt.
We'll give billions in aid to Africa, but scoff at giving the average american worker a $1 an hour bump in salary.
Yeah, Haiti needs relief alright. So do the tens of millions of working poor in this country, yet I see no one lifting a finger to help them.
Yeah, Haiti needs relief alright. So do the tens of millions of uninsured in this country, yet that's a hell of an unpopular concept.
Yeah, Haiti needs relief alright. So do the kids growing up in gang and drug infested communities, yet they seem to be forgotten about.
Yeah, Haiti needs relief alright. So just keep ignoring those who needs relief here ok?
I don't care if this makes me seem heartless. I once paid for a tank of gas with a jar of pennies because that was the last of my money seeing that my job thought it was fair to pay me $7.25 an hour. I can't tell you how many times I bandaged up bleeding appendages because a trip to the ER wasn't in the budget and I had no health insurance. So this is personal to me.
